Quick Trip to Calauit Island, Busuanga

We had no plans on going to this island but during our stay in Ocamocam Beach, Busuanga we've met an English couple and asked if we would like to come with them on their trip to Calauit and Black Island so they have someone to share with the boat rent. To make it short, though unplanned we took the chance to go with them and we didn't regret it.

From Ocamocam Beach where we're staying, we went to Calauit Island (Philippine's Safari) by a small boat. Unprepared yet excited, there was no time for us to prepare our food, good thing we have our drinking water.

After less than an hour boat ride we arrived in Calauit. I didn't even notice the time because I had mixed emotions during the travel. I'm not used to riding on a small boat and the waves was a bit big for me since it was an open sea. It others, it might have been just normal but for me, it was kinda scary but exciting too. I couldn't say I was all scared because I was having a good time on the ride as well. I felt happy at the same time that I got to experience something new, especially that I am with my husband.

We then registered and meet our tour guide. Registration for Filipinos is P200.00 while it is P400.00 for foreigners. There is a vehicle that you can rent for the tour but it was not available when we arrived as a group just started their tour. We decided not to wait for it as well as we are headed to Black Island after and wouldn't want to stay too long in Calauit.

We started walking and not too far we saw the giraffes and zebras walking around just like their normal days. Some quick shots and we continued our walk.  We then headed to animal cages to see the diversity of what Calauit has to offer.

Take note that these cages are for presentation purposes only. It was not built to confine the animals but to just have samples of the different species they have roaming around the whole island.

Not to forget that the island is about 3800 hectares.t is so big, that it won't be that easy for to see all the other species roaming around the area except for the giraffes and the zebras that are kinda used on some same spots because guests and visitors get to feed them there.

This is the area I was mentioning earlier. It is a big fence where guests and visitors can stay and feed the giraffes that are outside the fence.

I really couldn't hide the excitement and thrill of this experience. Giraffes are big yet friendly creatures we humans should really appreciate and take care.

This dear is just roaming around and I could say it was really used to seeing and mingling with people. There it is, enjoying eating.

Having a great day by far, now, off to Black Island
